Field Service Technician

Manitou Centre Cape Town

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Direct report to the Branch Manager. This position has the responsibility of Technical hands-on assistance and Support including but not limited to that of maintenance, services, repairs and inspections as per application.

Primary focus is Technical Assistance to the customer network.

KPIs:

KPI 1 - Job Card Administration

  • Accountable to ensure accuracy and completeness of job cards afforded to you.
  • Ensure Parts identification for any additional repairs needed are done accurately and cost effectively.
  • Diagnose errors and technical problems to determine proper solutions to produce timely and detailed service reports.

KPI 2 - Management of Manitou resources

  • You are accountable and responsible for the tidiness and upkeep of your allocated Field Service vehicle.
  • You are accountable for the Manitou Tools allocated to your vehicle and report on breakages and missing tools.
  • It will be expected of each member to hand in their overtime and expense claims on a timely manner as prescribed by the Finance department. The claim document should be complete with all supporting documents attached.

KPI 3 – Customer Satisfaction

  • Manage all on site services, repairs and maintenance as required per application as per customer safety procedures and policies.
  • You are accountable for your actions on site when liaising with customers by not divulging company information or sensitive information on jobs that would put Manitou SA in a bad light.

KPI 4 – Reporting

  • You are accountable and responsible to report back on damages and defects of your Service Vehicle and tools.
  • You are accountable for additional work to be done after site visits were conducted.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES NOT REFLECTED IN KPI’s:

  • Collaborate with various departments within MSA and to share information across the organization to build positive relationships with customers and coworkers.
  • To carry out any reasonable work request given by management.
  • To carry out all tasks given in accordance with environmental, health and safety guidelines provided by the company.
  • Management may request and expect of the member to work overtime if the need arise (all overtime will be compensated for according to company overtime policy).
  • It will be expected of each member to utilize company property and vehicles in accordance to company policies and adhere to National legislation when driving on national roads.
  • Promote a Health and Safety culture within the Field Service Department.

EDUCATION:

  • Matric (Gr 12)
  • Red Seal Qualified Diesel Mechanic/Electrical Technician
  • Excellent Product Knowledge.
  • Operator Competency on all Manitou related equipment and machines.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 4 years’ experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical repairs on Material Handling Equipment.
  • Knowledge of South African legislation and standards related to off highway equipment.
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a healthy relationship with key customers in the field.

  • Excellent read and write in English.

  • In possession of a valid RSA driver’s license.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • To carry out all tasks given in accordance with environmental, health and safety guidelines, provided by the company.
  • Technical business understanding.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

  • Works in partnership with almost all departments of the Headquarters to ensure close alignment.
  • Represents the company as an appropriate ambassador in its relationships with key customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional societies, and similar groups.

LOCATION & EXPECTED TRAVEL:

  • This position is based in the Western Cape, South Africa.
  • Will be required to travel within Cape Town.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R30,000.00 - R35,000.00 per month
